Yemen, Australia, Lesotho

Elizabeth May

Yemen speaks for the Group of 77 and China, but he seems to be speaking only on behalf of Yemen. The progress we have realized is a very positive negotiating step. The government of Yemen will continue with the same spirit of cooperation and compromise.

The progress is beyond our ability to express.

Australia:
Thanks and congratulations. I want to clearly indicate the support of the Australian delegation for this balance package. This will represent a significant win for multilateralism. A great credit to Mexico. It is important to recognize it builds on the work of Denmark last year.  It provides a pathway for major emission cuts. Provides measures for adaptation and fighting deforestation and a Green Climate Fund.  We must decouple economic growth from growth in pollution.

Much work lies ahead of us. But this represents a historic step forward.

We want to indicate strong support for the package.

Lesotho:
The Least Developed Countries are, on the whole, in support of the package. And this is a good foundation for our work in Durban in 2011. It provides elements for a new climate deal.

We support these elements as worthy of support, Adaptation Fund, Adaptation Committee and Adaptation Framework.  We like the Green Climate Fund. Approve inclusion of gender concerns. As a whole, we are grateful for this outcome.

For a long time, we have missed the kind of atmosphere that reigns in this hall today. Of positive energy and trust.
