Council Election - NS rep
Fellow GPC members from Nova Scotia:
I am running for provincial rep in the federal council election and thought I would give a little more information about myself than appears in my profile. I was one of the ones that was appointed to council by motion since some of the positions were vacant. I have served for about six months already and have attended an in-person conference in Ottawa, meeting most of the present councillors and forging a working relationship with them. Although my background has not been politically oriented, I have been on a learning curve of late to prepare myself for this task.
Meanwhile back in our province, I have been placed on the executive of the Central Nova EDA and have close bonds with the EDA council of Cape Breton – Canso. One of my immediate goals is to foster closer connections among the eleven electoral district executives in our province, something which seems crucial but lacking at present. I have also been briefed on the current state of the provincial Greens in N.S. They need our support to get back on track.
The main focus of the party at present is of course to get Elizabeth elected, wherever she decides to run, and I have been occupied in promoting this as much as possible. The flip-side of this campaign is that Central Nova may experience a letdown if she decides to leave us, and I feel it would be very much our role to publicly support her move, if and when it happens and make it known that we are still very much alive here.
I can assure you that I will devote as much time as I can to these causes and urge you to send in your vote for me before the deadline. Please feel free to contact me anytime.
