The Department of Fisheries and Oceans has asked a northern regulatory board to approve a plan to dump up to 1,200 litres of oil into Lancaster Sound on the Northwest Passage.

Are you kidding me.  I had to make sure I was awake and not living in an asylum.  We are going to pour 1200 litres of oil into a pristine arctic environment to see if we can clean it up.

I have seen some dumb plans in my life.  This is outrageous!.  I would like to insert some colourful adjectives in here but that would be impolite.   I actually thought this was a joke.  It is not.

The Inuit are incensed about this.  I am outraged.  What statement does this send to the world.  We will turn Alberta into a toxic oil dump.  We will destroy our water tables gas fracking.  Now we are going to dump oil into the arctic sea to find out if we can clean it up.

Forward this to everyone you know.  Just because this is a remote location does not mean we cannot turn the microscope on these activities.

What on earth?  I had to check the news to see if I could confirm this and I did via CTV.  

What is going on in their minds?  To dump oil on purpose to see if you can clean it up is just crazy.  Yeah, it wouldn't be a lot (100 litres per test) but it still just screams "we don't care about anything but money".  Lets hope voters remember this (and care) come election time.

Oil?

I've always suspected if you gave Harper a few hundred gallons of oil, he'd go out of his way to dump it into a pristine environment just to spite everyone.  I have an image of him smiling blindly into the distance with a sweater vest and a firehose spraying crude all over baby seals trying in earnest to hold back demonic laughter.

I'm starting to think we are living in the Matrix.
