the episode on time travel is also interesting.
Similarly, they don't necessarily know what gravity is, and dark matter and dark energy might not exist, according to John Moffat at Perimeter Institute.

They have no way to detect them except by mathematical inference. Consider this. E=hf is the energy of a photon of light, a wavelet of light. E=mc^2 except for neutrinos which can travel faster than light. This opens the door to paranormal activity and signals going backwards in time and other energies or particles that can travel faster than light.

if light though has an apparent mass = hf/c^2, which is confirmed by Einstein's photoelectric effect, then all light in the universe is interacting gravitationally with all other matter and light. This makes a correction to general relativity, which is extremely difficult to calculate, but which would not have been detected by Eddington in 1905 or anybody else for that matter. it raises the question that light bends and creates spacetime itself, while matter creates static bending of space as it moves around itself. This ma=hf/c^2 mass might just explain olbers paradox, which states that if the sky is populated by so many stars, why is the night sky background dark to the human eye or a telescope or other instruments including hubble telescope. The hypothesis that light has apparent mass can be verified by calculating the halo width, thickness , distribution and radius that is produced by gravitational lensing toward our solar system between two globular cluster spherical galaxies, one nearer and one in the far field. Even using wavelets from Mallat's book allows us to calclate it for a small arc of the halo distribution in 5D.
also the higgs boson or god particle hasn't been detected yet and likely does not exist

that means all the physicists working on bosonic string theory are going to be out of work.
You would need a collider larger than the size of two solar systems to fully test string theory, so it is pure theory, no one can afford it and it is a waste of time at this stage of evolution. it is not empirical and not testable. in fact it has just been refuted by the lack of a higgs boson. So why not spend that money on climate change research and solutions like green gas instead. Its not as glamourous or glory linked, but it will save life on planet earth, and it is not hypothetical or untestable.
but it seems like it is just an overfitting of math equations through all the existing data points and predicts nothing between them just like a polynomial that fits through all the data points but predicts nothing between the points or outside the range of the data. This is a gross oversimplification, but i believe it aptly describes the situation.
Occams razor needs to be applied, if there are two theories that describe the same phenomena, one simpler and generating more predictions, one more complex and generating hardly any predicitions, apply the razor and go with the simpler explanation until more of the picture is revealed.
All of this, the lack of dark matter and dark energy, and light having apparent mass and light bending spacetime and creating spacetime have huge impacts on consciousness research. Their are still dark intents by some individuals, M-Branes, and dark consciousness and fear which have to be resolved with memory and consciousness research.
