We broke the 2,700 vote mark on election night, setting a new high for Greens in Cariboo-Prince George and resisting the "orange crush" movement successfully. We even set a new record in vote percentages, garnering at least 6.2% of the vote. Plus - and to my way of thinking even more importantly, we came in 3rd. in this riding ahead of the Liberals. Not bad for a team of rookies! The Greens are an offical player in politics in this riding with those tremendous results and my heartfelt thanks to all of you who voted Green, sponsored signs and supported us in a myriad of ways during this last month.
Having Elizabeth May in the House gives Greens across Canada legitimacy and a voice. We can all be proud of that success in Saanich-Gulf Islands.
The next campaign has already started in the Cariboo. Within the next couple of weeks we'll be having a "debriefing" meeting to discuss what went right, what could have gone better, and how we should shape our strategy for the next 3-4 year hiatus between campaigns.
