We're Sorry.

Thank you to everyone who joined in the “We’re Sorry, World” campaign to shame the Harper Government for its disgraceful decision to once again block the listing of asbestos as a hazardous substance under the UN Rotterdam Convention.

Your letters have now been sent to Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the UN, and Mr. Jim Willis, Executive Secretary of the Rotterdam Convention.

The Green Party will continue to push on this issue, and we hope you will as well. Here are a couple of actions you can take now:

  • Hundreds of Canadians have posted messages to the Facebook wall of Environment Minister Peter Kent expressing their opposition to asbestos. Go there now and add your voice.
  • Michaela Keyserlingk, a widow whose husband died from an asbestos-related illness, is being threatened with legal action by the Conservative Party for using their logo in an anti-asbestos online ad. Support her by sending an email to your local Conservative MPs and to Conservative Party Executive Director Dan Hilton telling them to leave her alone and respect her democratic right to protest.

You can help us undertake more action campaigns like this by making a donation to the Green Party of Canada today.
